Community Public Access Defibrillator
In late 2021 the NWMES Committee were trying to think of some tangible way to remember our late Chairman, Bob Hughes, and had pretty much decided we would try to raise funds to purchase a defibrillator to be installed at the café end of West Shore, Llandudno. Bob raised a lot of money to buy defibrillators around Prestatyn and it was thought this would be quite appropriate.
At that time the NWMES acting Secretary was contacted by Friends Of West Shore who had one of their members pass away after a heart attack near the café at West Shore. Unfortunately, the nearest defibrillator proved to be too far away to be a life saver.
As a result of a number of conversations and research by members of the two organisations, in November of 2021, FOWS, and NWMES, joined forces to apply for a community Public Access Defibrillator.
Our application was successful, and in March 2022 a cabinet to house the defibrillator was purchased by FOWS and NWMES and installed on the front wall of the West Shore Café, with the cost of installation being covered by the management of the Café.
On Thursday 28th April 2022, the long awaited defibrillator was delivered, fitted into the cabinet, certified and is now fully operational.
The NWMES feels privileged to have been involved with FOWS and the management and staff of the West Shore Café to bring this potentially lifesaving equipment to add to the existing facilities of West Shore.
