Membership Benefits

Membership of NWMES is open to individuals who are interested in all aspects of Model Engineering and the operation and maintenance of a miniature railway and provides the opportunity to come together with others who have the same or similar interests. A background or any previous expertise in engineering is not a requirement for membership as our members are more than happy to share their experiences and to give both advice and assistance to those new to the hobby.

Opportunity to drive the Club’s Steam and Electric Locomotives

Opportunity to help and assist in the maintenance and development of our running facility and to assist with our public running and event days.

Boiler testing and inspection free of charge

Insurance cover for Personal Accident and Public Liability whilst undertaking activities on the Club’s behalf

Opportunities to travel to Model Engineering Exhibitions and other outings of interest to members.

Finally the ability to influence how the club is run by joining the Committee and also by attending and voting at the Annual General Meeting.

Membership Categories

The following are our membership categories and current subscription rates:

Member                                                                               £40.00 less £3.00 per month from February

Junior* (under 16 years / full time student)               £20.00 less £1.50 per month from February

There is currently no joining fee but new members are required to contribute to the Company assets by the purchasing of a share in the Company to the value of £1.00.

* Junior members aged, up to and including, 16 years, must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.The parent or guardian does not necessarily have to be a Member of the Society.

Membership runs from the 1st January to 31st December each year.
