Summer with the portable track

So far we are having an very enjoyable summer. We have used the track at the 2007 Victoria Extravaganza in May and this year we tried to get in the sprit of things by dressing up for the occasion (See Photo's Page). We have also been at the Transport Extravaganza Show at Hen Blas.

We had few problems with the loco’s. Blowing fuses with the electric loco due to what appears is heavy handed use. Also pins coming out between the loco and carriages. Now fixed we hope by a slight modification.

Permanent Track

Most Saturdays have seen a fair number of loco’s running, sometimes 4 and even 5.  The area round the steaming bays is now fully paved thanks to the hard work of a few members, so our feet stay dry even after a prolonged rainy week.  The ‘traverser out’ signal is a success and everybody seems to be taking notice of it, so we hope to fit a signal arrangement to show when a train is in the cutting in the near future.

Club House

The dedicated Saturday team have now finished the renovation at the back, and it looks so much better.  A start has now been made on the third side and which we hope will be finished in a few weeks time.  Without this work the clubhouse condition would soon have deteriorated to the point where we would have to consider a replacement.  If you can spare a few hours to help on an occasional Saturday, please come along, it will be much appreciated.

The new Health and Safety ‘Fire Risk Assessment’ Laws came into force on 1^st October.  To comply with these we have now fitted several ‘Fire Exit’ signs, also emergency lighting over both exit doors, and a fire/smoke alarm in the kitchen.  Please take a minute to read the new notice on the right as you enter the main room through the glass door.
